Q: How many years have you been working out?
A: I started working out around the age of 17 years old back in my hometown of Kirkland Lake. However, it wasn’t until i moved to Toronto in the spring of 2010 that i truly bought into the lifestyle and made a full time commitment to working out.
Q: What was the hardest thing to overcome when you started working out?
A: I think the hardest thing to overcome is the mental aspect of working out. You don’t often see major changes in the beginning and it can take a long time to see further growth, so being able to stay with it until you achieve your workout goals is the most difficult thing.
Q: What advice do you have for someone looking to get into bodybuilding?
A: Welcome to a world that your average person will never understand. I think you have to be a little bit crazy to want this life but it’s one that only the select few can do. I’d honestly recommend that you jump in with two feet and give everything that you can to it and you’ll be successful.
Q: What do you eat on a daily basis?
A: My daily intake of food sources doesn’t really change much between contest prep and off season. It’s always 1 of 2 things. Protein & health fats, of Protein & carbs. Protein sources that i consumer regularly are chicken, turkey, white fish, beff, bison. Health fats include nuts, nut butters, olive oil, coconut oil, and low fat cheese. Carbs include oatmeal, rice, and potatoes.
Q: What is your favourite body part to train?
A: I love to train shoulders, they’ve been an area of focus for me the past couple of years. The pain from training shoulders isn’t like any other muscle and the good feeling over overloading the delta is what really makes me love it!
Q: Do you lift heavy all the time?
A: Not at all, your muscle doesn’t know weight which makes it completely irrelevant what weight you use. The heavier the weight just stimulates the ego and not your muscles. What your muscles respond to is tension and the amount of time it’s under tension. Dropping down the weight and really focusing on lifting properly will allow you to get more gains out of every lift.
Q: I see that you represent Kaizen, why do you stand behind their brand?
A: The people at Kaizen believe in using the best quality natural ingredients to make the best tasting products. Not only do they test all of their products pre and post production, but rather they use the world leading third party testing organization called NSF. This ensures that you are getting exactly what it says on the label and nothing you don’t want.
Q: What is Influential Sports Inc.
A: Influential Sports Inc. is the corporation that governs everything that I do in the fitness industry. It’s the main partner company that I do all of my event promotion, management, an fitness research under.
